Animalier, mostly.

Scientist by day. Self-taught in the medium, but a lifetime hobby artist.

Paintings here range from traditional glazed-over-grisaille, to wet-in-wet alla prima, to impasto palette knife work. My philosophy is "whatever works" (or doesn't, but that's part of the learning process).

I am fascinated by traditional oil works from the 17th - early 20th century. My blog Spirit of Turpentine is a collection of things that have spoken to me, ranging from Baroque to Romanticism to Academic to Realism and everything in between.
